Temjen Imna Along condemns attack on two Naga people in Ahmedabad for ‘selling Northeastern food’

Kohima, June 7: In a shocking incident, two people from Nagaland were assaulted on Tuesday by a mob for “selling non-vegetarian and Northeastern food” in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad.

According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday night.

The two victims from Nagaland who were assaulted have been identified as Mapuyanger Jamir and Rovimezo Kehie.

An FIR was also lodged by the victims in connection with the incident at Sola police station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The two men from Nagaland were attcked with baseball bats.

The victims who worked at an eatery named One Stop Northeast were also questioned for selling Northeastern food.

The two victims suffered injuries following attack and were treated at the Sola civil hospital.

After the news of this incident was reported, it evoked sharp responses from many.

Nagaland BJP president and state minister Temjen Imna Along has condemned the incident.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “I am deeply pained to hear about the recent hate crime against two men from Nagaland who were attacked for selling non-vegetarian and northeastern food. It is disheartening to see our brothers from the northeastern region being targeted and discriminated against for their cultural identity and food choices. Let us spread love and compassion, not hate and hostility.”
