TFI to recognise only one Taekwondo association in each state

Must read

Shillong, Sep 3: In a significant development, the Taekwondo Federation of India has announced that it will only recognise one Taekwondo association per state, in line with the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India. This decision aims to streamline the governance of Taekwondo in the country.

According to the Taekwondo Federation of India’s rules, any additional Taekwondo association operating within the same state will be considered in violation of the regulations. The National Taekwondo Federation will not extend recognition to such unauthorised associations.

L. Sukoon Sing, Vice President of the Taekwondo Federation of India, confirmed this decision during a press conference held on the sidelines of a two-day Taekwondo black belt examination event in Shillong. Sing expressed concern over the proliferation of multiple Taekwondo associations in various states, leading to the organisation of championships without proper rules and guidelines.

Sing emphasised that this move is essential to bringing order and standardisation to Taekwondo activities across India. Under this new directive, only the officially recognised association within each state will have the privilege of selecting players to participate in national and international games.

This decision by the Taekwondo Federation of India is expected to have a significant impact on the future of Taekwondo in the country, ensuring a unified and regulated approach to the sport.
