Heroin worth Rs 10 crore seized at Tripura-Mizoram border

Agartala, Sep 3: Tripura police seized heroin worth Rs 10 crore from a vehicle on the Tripura-Mizoram border on Saturday, said a senior police officer.

One drug trafficker from Assam was arrested along with the drug.

Bhanupada Chakraborty, Superintendent of Police, North Tripura district, who reached the spot of seizure, said that during special checking at Damchera, on the Tripura-Mizoram border, a total of 100 packets (soap boxes) of heroin had been seized.

He added that the total weight of the seized heroin is approximately 1 kg 300 grams and its market value is around Rs 10 crores.

The SP informed that Khalil Uddin of Patharkandi, under Karimganj district, Assam, has been arrested, and a Bolero vehicle in which the drugs were being transported has also been seized as police registered an NDPS case in Damchera police station.

It may be added that the same quantity of heroin was seized at Choraibari on the Tripura-Assam border in the same district only 14 days ago.
