Nongpoh, Sept 11: Ri Bhoi District, particularly the district headquarters Nongpoh, has witnessed a series of theft cases in recent weeks. Another incident was reported on Tuesday morning, where two shops in the heart of Nongpoh Town were looted.
According to reports, the two shops, including a stationery store, were broken into during the early hours of Tuesday. Unknown miscreants managed to break the shutters of both shops, fleeing with cash and damaging several grocery items.
The shops that were targeted belong to Hubert Marweiñ, who owns Moonlight Studio, and a grocery store owned by Tura Miah.
Both shop owners have lodged FIRs at Nongpoh Police Station. Investigations are ongoing, and police, along with an expert team, visited the scene to inspect and collect necessary evidence from the two locations to investigate the robbery.
