Nongpoh, Oct 24: Three people were seriously injured when a Maruti Alto collided with a parked truck on NH-6 in Umdihar, Ri Bhoi District on Thursday.
According to police, the accident likely happened due to over-speeding by the Alto driver. The incident occurred at around 5:40 AM.
The Maruti Alto (ML 05 W 5094) first struck the divider and then crashed into a truck (AS01-DD-9728). The injured have been identified as Kynrong Dkhar, Rep Dkhar, and Kharlong Dkhar, all from Wapung village in East Jaintia Hills District.
Police responded to the scene, and the injured were transported to Super Care Hospital in Shillong after initial treatment at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
An investigation is underway into the incident.
