Gangtok, Oct 24: Candidates from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) filed their nominations for the Soreng Chakung and Namchi Singhithang assembly constituencies on Thursday.
Thursday was the sixth day for filing of nomination for the upcoming bye-elections to the two constituencies.
For Soreng Chakung, SDF has fielded Prem Bahadur Bhandari to challenge Aditya Golay, the former legislator from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM). In Namchi Singhithang, Daniel Dai will represent SDF against SKM’s Satish Chandra Rai, with Yojna Rai filing as a dummy candidate for the same seat.
So far, two regional political parties have submitted nominations.
The nomination process will remain open until October 25, with filings accepted between 11 am and 3 pm.
Scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for October 28, and candidates may withdraw their nominations by October 30. The election will be held on November 13.
