Imphal, May 5: Security forces have apprehended three insurgents belonging to different underground groups from Manipur’s valley districts in the last 36 hours.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Lairenlakpam Dineshchandra Singh (30), Longkam Bishochandra Meitei alias Bungo (37), and Chirom Roshan Meitei alias Thomas (37).
During the operations, the security forces also recovered arms, ammunition, and incriminating documents.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team raided a hideout at Yairipok Laimanai in Imphal East district and arrested Lairenlakpam Dineshchandra Singh, an active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Apunba).

The other two cadres were also apprehended from a separate location where they had been taking shelter.
According to police, the trio was involved in extortion activities in Imphal West and Imphal East districts.
Meanwhile, security forces have intensified operations across the Manipur valley to apprehend insurgents believed to be hiding in various areas.
