Guwahati, Sept 28: A joint team of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), and the Forest Department seized a large cache of wildlife items during a raid at Jyoti Path, Bhetapara in Assam’s Kamrup Metro district on Saturday.

Acting on specific intelligence, the team recovered one tiger skin, eight deer skins, and arrested one individual in connection with the case.

Officials said the raid was carried out following leads obtained from the interrogation of wildlife offenders apprehended in earlier operations on August 15 and September 7.

“Based on the interrogation of those wildlife offenders and coordinated intelligence gathered, today’s raid was successfully executed. This marks a significant achievement for SSB. Sashastra Seema Bal will continue to work in coordination with agencies engaged in combating wildlife crime and will carry out such operations in the future as well,” an official said.

Sudhir Verma, Inspector General of SSB Frontier Guwahati, congratulated the team for the successful operation, attributing the achievement to reliable intelligence inputs and strong inter-agency coordination.
