Agartala, April 17: The ruling Tipra Motha Party (TMP), led by Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, is set for a sweeping victory in the 2026 elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), with trends declared for all 28 seats.
The party has already secured 16 seats and is leading in eight more, putting it comfortably ahead with control over 24 of the 28 constituencies.
Congratulations my dear friend @PradyotManikya and to his party @tipra_official for the landslide victory in the #Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. Our collective mission for #OneNorthEast is strengthened by the victory. Great things to follow! pic.twitter.com/WhBdiwLmli

In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a major setback in the tribal belt, managing to win just two seats while leading in another two.
The results mark a decisive endorsement of Tipra Motha’s dominance in the tribal areas, even as the BJP had positioned itself as a key contender in the elections.
Interestingly, the two parties are allies in the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura. However, they chose to contest the TTAADC polls separately, turning the election into a direct contest in the tribal region.
The outcome underscores Tipra Motha’s continued stronghold in the council and signals a clear shift in the political landscape of Tripura’s tribal areas.
