“The police enquiry is on and a large number of people have been arrested and even last night, as far as 12 o’clock at night, I received phone calls from officials from the police, informing me about the different actions that have been taken and hence I am monitoring the situation very closely,” he added.

When prodded whether the government would continue the peace talks if the HNLC is found to be involved in the blast incident, Sangma said that right now it is based on speculation until the full enquiry is completed.

“We will have to see who is behind this. Once we are able to ascertain with full proof only then we will be able to make an official statement,” he said.

“So yes, there are certain things we have made forward. We have done our research, enquiry and everything and intel is indicating to certain individuals and groups but without full details it will not be proper for me to say anything right now,” he added.

On Sunday night, two suspects, including an HNYF leader, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the IED bomb blast at Them Iew Mawlong. They have been identified as Tarzan Lymba, who is the HNYF disciplinary secretary, and Ebakordor Nongpluh. The duo have been forwarded to 10 days police custody.
