Nongpoh, Dec 11: The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), under the Skills Meghalaya initiative, on Monday felicitated 50 individuals who successfully completed training in Organic Dyeing, Spinning, and Weaving conducted at the Eri Weave Private Limited (EWPL), Kdonghulu village, Ri Bhoi District.
The trainees, primarily from the Bhoirymbong area, underwent an intensive 50-day skill development program. During the event, 27 spinning machines were distributed by SELCO and the MOSONiE Socio-Economic Foundation.
Notably, 37 of the trainees have already secured employment with EWPL, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward self-reliance.
The programme was attended by Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare, Umroi MDC R. Kharbuki, EWPL Director Iaishah Rymbai, MSSDS SDO Samuel Nonglait and others.
Damanbait Lamare expressed immense pride and joy in witnessing the achievements of the 50 trainees from his constituency and encouraged them to embrace their work without hesitation or fear of judgment citing that the dignity lies in hard work.
“Whatever job we do, we must work with dedication and passion; only through consistent efforts we can achieve success, real sweet rewards and progress in life”, said Lamare.
The event celebrated the accomplishments of the trainees and reinforced the government’s commitment to empowering local communities through skill-based training programs.
