Agartala, Jan 30: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Monday filed his nomination to contest in the upcoming assembly polls in the state. Saha was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma and Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

Saha filed his nomination papers as a BJP candidate from Town Bardowali constituency in Tripura.

Speaking to reporters, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “We will form the government again in Tripura. We have decided to contest the election alone in Tripura but IPFT is with us and this time also we will contest together and form the government.”

“We have only one card that is development. In last five years, BJP has worked for peace and development of Tripura,” Sarma asserted.

He said, “Congress is a big zero in entire nation and CPI(M) is a big zero in entire world. Zero plus zero is zero. This time, we will do better from the last time. We will do better in this election because we have worked for the peace and development of the people.”

BJP along with its ally IPFT routed the Left Front In Tripura in 2018, winning 44 seats in the 60-member assembly, ending the Left’s 25-year rule that started in 1993. CPI(M) could secure only 16 in 2018.
