Agartala, Feb 15: A fervent wave of devotion swept through Tripura as 483 devotees embarked on a spiritual journey to Ayodhya, with the special Astha train receiving a ceremonial send-off from Chief Minister Manik Saha at the Agartala rail station on Wednesday evening.
Chief Minister Saha, addressing reporters after the flagging-off ceremony highlighted the resurgence of faith in Tripura, noting the historical struggle against imported ideologies that propagated atheist sentiments.
He attributed the revival of Indian philosophies and faith to the concerted efforts of the double-engine government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-IPFT state government.
Highlighting the significance of faith in people’s lives, Saha stressed the importance of Indian mythologies and belief in God, declaring their reinstatement in the state.
Amidst the palpable enthusiasm of the devotees, resonant chants of “Jai Shree Ram” echoed through the station as they expressed gratitude for the culmination of a 500-year struggle, culminating in the establishment of Lord Rama’s idol at his birthplace.
They hailed the opportunity to visit the revered temple as a privilege and thanked the government for facilitating their journey at a nominal cost of Rs 1960, inclusive of food, for the six-day pilgrimage.
The Astha train is scheduled to reach Ayodhya on Friday, where devotees will pay homage at the Ram Mandir and seek blessings from the idol of Lord Ramlalla before returning to Tripura on February 19, concluding their sacred pilgrimage.
