During the celebration, the Chief Minister emphasized that the safety and security of women have always been paramount concerns for his administration. He highlighted the proactive measures taken by the government to address these issues.

Dr. Saha underlined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent decision to reduce the price of cooking gas cylinders by Rs 200 and provide 75 lakh new free gas connections through the Ujjwala program was a significant gesture, tantamount to a generous gift to the women of the nation on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’.

Furthermore, Dr. Saha pointed out that the state government has taken substantial steps to empower women in Tripura. These efforts include introducing reservations for women in government jobs and bolstering security measures through the installation of additional CCTV cameras and automatic number plate recognition systems within the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.

As the women who participated in Raksha Bandhan expressed their gratitude, they also commended the government’s recent initiatives. They extended their thanks to the Chief Minister for partaking in the Raksha Bandhan celebration—a widely observed annual Hindu ritual that takes place on the full moon day of the Hindu calendar month of Shravan.

On this special day, sisters of all ages tie a talisman called a Rakhi around their brothers’ wrists, symbolizing their protective bond. In return, brothers offer gifts and accept a portion of the responsibility for their sisters’ well-being, reinforcing the sense of mutual care and protection.
