Agartala, Jan 26: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu highlighted the state’s major achievements, including resolving decades-old insurgency issues, during his address at the Republic Day function held at the Assam Rifles ground on Sunday.
The Governor noted that on September 5 last year, the Union and Tripura governments signed a Memorandum of Settlement with the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All-Tripura Tiger Force, disbanding the insurgent groups and bringing peace. He also emphasized the signing of a historic tripartite agreement on March 2, 2024, between the Government of India, the Tripura government, and the Tipra Motha Party to address issues related to the indigenous people.
Reddy Nallu reflected on the challenges faced during August’s severe floods, which claimed 38 lives and led to the evacuation of 3.7 lakh people. He commended efforts under the “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana,” which contributed Rs 32.93 crore, and noted that Rs 790.53 crore was credited to 2.76 lakh farmers under PM-KISAN.
Additionally, 1,878 hectares were brought under oil palm cultivation under the National Mission for Edible Oils, benefiting 1,861 farmers. The Governor also announced the inclusion of 27 schools under Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India for the 2024-25 year, with infrastructure development remaining a top priority.
Highlighting connectivity improvements, Reddy Nallu mentioned that Rs 2,800 crore had been sanctioned for road projects, including the Agartala Eastern Bypass and Amtali to Tripura Sundari Temple road.
The Governor also celebrated the state’s achievement of seven awards under the National Panchayat Awards-2024 and the government’s plan to develop 111 additional model villages under the Chief Minister Model Village Scheme.
