The student was attacked when he was coming out from the principal’s room after attempting to obtain a voluntary identity card to run a help desk for new students on behalf of TSF.

According to the injured student, the ABVP did not want TSF to set up any help desks in the institute and insisted on having exclusive control over such centers.

After the incident a TSF delegation met the principal of the college Dr. Nirmal Bhadra demanding appropriate action against the perpetrators and measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Talking to reporters, Dr. Nirmal Bhadra said, “I have not received any complaints from individual students, only from student organisations.

“When I checked the scene, I didnt not find anyone, only the injured student, who was immediately sent to hospital for treatment” he said.

“Such incidents occasionally occur as the college doesn’t have a boundary wall and the outsiders takes advantage of it to the enter the college premises. After the incident, the police were called to remove the outsiders,” the principal said.

He said the clash started over help desk so there is no need for any student organizations to set up help desks, as the college has adequate number of teachers available to assist new students with the admission process.
