Agartala, Dec 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah spotlighted Tripura’s impressive economic strides, announcing that the state’s per capita income has surged to Rs 1.77 lakh, surpassing that of neighbouring West Bengal. Speaking at the National Cooperative Conference in Agartala, Shah credited this progress to the BJP’s governance since coming to power in 2018.
“When we took over in 2018, Tripura’s per capita income stood at Rs 98,000. Today, it has climbed to Rs 1.77 lakh, heralding a new era of development,” Shah remarked, emphasizing the state’s transformation under BJP leadership.
He also outlined key milestones achieved in Tripura, including a leap in piped water supply coverage from less than 3% to 87% of households. Furthermore, Shah noted that over 80% of the population now benefits from free ration schemes, while 80% of residents are covered under a Rs 5 lakh free health scheme.
On the national stage, Shah highlighted India’s rise from the 11th to the 5th largest global economy, forecasting its ascension to the third spot by 2027.
In a call to action, Shah urged states to collaborate with the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), a central initiative aimed at linking farmers engaged in organic farming to global markets. “The NCOL will facilitate packaging, marketing, and export of organic products, empowering farmers and enhancing their global reach,” Shah asserted.
