Tura, March 13: Tura Christian Hospital marked the World Kidney Day by organizing a free kidney screening and consultation camp for the public on Thursday. The initiative aimed at raising awareness about kidney health saw 189 individuals registering for the comprehensive check-ups.
Recognizing the increasing prevalence of kidney-related diseases, the hospital, in association with the Indian Society of Nephrology (ISN), conducted the day-long camp focusing on early detection and prevention.
This year’s World Kidney Day theme, “Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health,” emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and preventive measures. The event sought to educate the community about kidney health, risk factors, and ways to prevent kidney diseases.
The camp was led by Dr. Benjamin S. Sangma, a nephrologist at Tura Christian Hospital. Participants received free nephrology consultations, blood sugar tests, and urine tests, and offering valuable advice on kidney care, identifying potential risks and detect abnormalities that could indicate kidney dysfunction.
Observed annually on the second Thursday of March, World Kidney Day aims to increase awareness about kidney health and reduce the global burden of kidney disease worldwide.
