Tura, March 12: A cyber cafe in Tura Super Market has been forcibly shut by members of the Garo Students Union after a student who used its services to fill up a form and pay online registration fees for the mandatory Common University Entrance Test complained that the transaction was not carried out by the operator despite getting the payments.
The student had applied for further studies and submitted the online applications through Aritrika Cyber Zone inside the super market.
With the last date for CUET applications over, the student’s name was not found in the list over alleged non payment of the fees prompting a protest against the cafe operator.
It remains unclear on how such a major botch up of applications has taken place given that online payments have the mandatory one time password or OTP generated for payments and a subsequent receipt of the amount paid.
Another cyber operator told this scribe that students should check and ensure that they have received the payment receipt for the online transaction before leaving the cafe to avoid losing out on their applications.
