Tura, May 14: In order to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption,Tura Govt.Boys Higher secondary school organized an anti-tobacco rally on Monday, with the theme “Walk for Meghalaya, Tobacco free Meghalaya”which was participated by students from all classes.
The rally commenced from Tura Govt. Boy’s Higher secondary school, passed through Chandmari market junction and culminated at the Tura Govt. Boy’s Higher secondary school campus.
As part of their effort, the students carried banners and placards highlighting the harmful nature of tobacco products, serving as a visual reminder to the people on the various health hazards associated with tobacco use. Alongside the rally, the school also conducted a signature campaign, inviting students and members of the public to show their support for the cause.
Talking to Hub News, Encrolla R Marak a teacher from institute said “we have organised this tobacco rally to spread awareness to the school kids to keep away from smoking tobacco products like , biri, cigarette, chewing gudka so that their future will become bright. Nearly around 1000 plus students have taken part in today’s rally”.
