Tura, June 28: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) led a candlelight vigil at Don Bosco College in Tura on Wednesday, with the participation of residents from West Garo Hills. The vigil aimed to express solidarity and call for peace in Manipur, amidst the ongoing conflict in the State.
The event was attended by prominent figures including GSU president TengchaTengsak Momin, Father, and Pastor Insting Marak, who joined the solemn candlelight vigil service.
During the gathering, Manseng A Sangma, Assistant General Secretary of NESO, addressed the attendees, highlighting the significance of the candlelight vigil being observed across the northeastern states.

“In the midst of the conflict in Manipur, lives have been lost, and many people have been displaced. Through this candlelight vigil, we offer our condolences to those who have lost their lives and pray for the restoration of peace,” Manseng stated.
Participants of the vigil earnestly prayed for the restoration of peace in the violence-stricken Manipur, seeking divine intervention for a swift resolution. Holding lit candles in their hands, the attendees expressed their hope for a peaceful and harmonious environment.
A similar candlelight vigil was also organized by NESO in Shillong.
