The violence broke out on May 3rd and there has been no end to the barbaric attacks and cold blooded murders of innocent people, the victims include teenagers, fathers and mothers, women and even children, including the burning alive of a child and his mother inside an ambulance in Imphal city as they tried to get to a hospital to treat the little boy of a gunshot wound.

But what has shaken the conscience of the country, including Garo Hills, has been the humiliation and attack on women, particularly two ladies who were paraded naked and assaulted, with the younger one gang-raped by cold blooded rioters led by Meitei men in a village just outside Imphal city on May 4th. The video of the incident was splashed across social media on Wednesday and sparked an outrage across the country, prompting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to finally speak up on the Manipur violence after having remained silent for well over 78 days from the time the unrest began.
