Tura, May 28: Residents and passersby on Tuesday are worried as electrical poles in New Tura dangle dangerously and are on the verge of collapsing along the PWD road.
Tura police have cordoned off the area, and the road leading from Araimile junction to the PHE Office junction is temporarily closed until authorities announce otherwise.
Meanwhile, despite police personnel’s warnings not to cross, a government vehicle, Grand Vitara, bearing registration number ML. 01 2464 defied instructions and passed through the area.
Locals allege that the pole had rusted at the base and was neglected by the concerned department.
After Cyclone Remal hit Garo Hills, electricity was down in most parts of the region. Restoration work was underway and electricity restored in most parts.
