Tura, Sept 19: The town of Tura was immersed in religious revelries as the spiritual bliss of Ganesh Chaturthi descended on the town on Tuesday.
Localities like Beldarpara and Fancy Valley put up small pandals with exquisite idols of Lord Ganesh, decorated with vibrant flowers and colourful lights. People and devotees from across the town thronged the pandals to offer prayers to Lord Ganesh, who is the harbinger of good luck and wealth.
All arrangements were made by local residents, who had collected contributions from willing households in the area, to ensure Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in its full splendour. While the festivities in Tura may not rival the grandeur of those in Maharashtra, the fervour and excitement were equally palpable.
Ganesh Chaturthi, a significant Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, extends over ten auspicious days each year. Falling in the Bhadra month of the Hindu calendar, typically spanning mid-August to September, the occasion is a joyous commemoration of the revered elephant-headed deity. Lord Ganesha holds a prominent place in Hindu culture and is venerated as the God of good luck, wealth, knowledge, wisdom, and prosperity. His blessings are sought by devotees before embarking on significant endeavors. Known by various names, including Gajanana, Vinayaka, and Vighnaharta, Lord Ganesh is revered through 108 epithets.
In India, the festival is observed with great devotion with Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana being key states of celebration.
