Tura to host Meghalaya vs West Bengal cricket match in Colonel C.K. Nayudu Trophy

Tura, Jan 11: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), in collaboration with the Tura District Cricket Association (TDCA), is set to host one of the BCCI-organised Colonel C. K. Nayudu Trophy match at the Tura Alotgre Cricket Ground on January 25.

While most matches will take place in Shillong and other states, the match between Meghalaya and West Bengal will be held in Tura, marking a significant milestone for cricket in the Garo Hills region.

Speaking to Hub News, Salmitmat Marak, a member of both TDCA and MCA, confirmed that the match will be open for public attendance, with seating arrangements available for spectators. The event is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM, providing ample opportunity for cricket enthusiasts to witness the action.

Preparations for the event are nearing completion, with over 80% of the work already finalized. The remaining 20% is expected to be completed by January 17th, ensuring the venue is fully ready to host the prestigious match.

The Alotgre Cricket Ground, the only stadium in Garo Hills built by the BCCI, stands as a source of pride for the region. The match is anticipated to foster a sense of community spirit and further promote cricket in the area.

The Colonel C. K. Nayudu Trophy, a domestic tournament for under-23 teams, is named after India’s first Test cricket captain, C. K. Nayudu. Organized by the BCCI, the tournament provides a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent on a national stage.
