Tura, Oct 6: The UDID (Unique Disability ID) Project in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, West Garo Hills organised an Awareness Programme on UDID, disability related schemes and mental health at ICFAI University, Tura on Friday.
The programme started with the introductory speech by Silje A Sangma, District Social Welfare Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura followed by a short speech by Academic Coordinator of ICFAI University.
The event then took off with an explanation on the 21 types of disabilities, their effects and causes by Dr. Sujata Das, DRCDA Manager cum Physiotherapist; then an explanation was provided on Unique Disability ID by Jerry Chingre B Sangma, Assistant Coordinator, Garo Hills Region, UDID Project; a talk about Domestic Violence and related issues by Miami Sangma, Centre Administrator Cum Protection officer, One Stop Centre, Tura, which was then followed by a talk on Mental Health Awareness by Dr. Narbeeca G Momin, Clinical Psychologist, District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Tura Civil Hospital.
