Guwahati, Jan 30: In an anti-narcotics operations, Assam police seized a huge cachement of drugs from Birshing char area in Assam’s Dhubri district on Wednesday.
Based on specific information, Dhubri police launched an operation at the residence of Siddque Ali at Birshing char area and arrested two drug smugglers.
The drug smugglers has been identified as- Siddique Ali and Abed Ali.
The seized items include suspected heroin in 26 plastic vials weighing 65.40 gm stored in black polythene, suspected Ganja weighing 7.082 kgs (with sack), Tramadol Capsules 4 capsules in a strip (Batch No-OYEC-191, Mfg-10/2024, Exp dt-09/2026), suspected to be psychotropic substances, empty vials 30 numbers and one mobile phone.
Preliminary investigation suggests that both accused have been involved in the peddling business for several years.
The seizure procedure and preparation of the seizure list were conducted under videography, with independent witnesses present.
A case has been registered under NDPS Act and legal formalities are underway.
Further investigation is ongoing to uncover the involvement of other miscreants.
