SHILLONG, JULY 21: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday said the government is serious about having peace dialogues with the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
“We are serious about it. We really wanted to have a dialogue peacefully and initiative has been done and now the process has started,” Tynsong told reporters.
On the allegation of the opposition that the government has failed to convene a meeting of the State Security Commission (SSC), Tynsong however defended by saying that the government is not at all complacent about security or any other sector.
“We are serious and you have seen, be it CM or myself till now we are still in office so we are serious about it. How can they say we are not serious or we are complacent,” he said.
Tynsong further maintained that the government will convene the SSC meeting when the need arises.
“Law and order issue is being taken care of by the state government… I personally feel as of now you don’t need a SSC to sit. However, until and unless when there is a requirement or a need then the chairman will call the commission,” he said.
