She added that anyone can be part of the KAM be it the daily wage workers, farmers, students, self-employed youth, homemakers, teachers, artists, musicians, retired government servants, intellectuals and activists but everyone should share the same passion i.e. to reclaim democracy by way of truth.

“The objective of the KAM Meghalaya is to restore back the rights of the people and to bring about change in such a way that it is acceptable by everyone by every community in Meghalaya hence there is a need to contest in the election to be able to raise the concern of everyone,” said Rangad.

Rangad said that the process is on to get KAM registered with Election Commission of India (ECI) in order to begin their campaign to make people understand about the ideology for which they are contesting the 2023 election.

She added that the reason they have decided to contest as independent candidates is because they want to be free from corruption so that they can freely express the voices of the people in the future be it in the assembly or on the streets.
