SHILLONG, JUNE 1: Three minors died on Saturday while others are in critical condition after consuming wild mushrooms in Saphai village under Laskein C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills District.
District police chief Chemphang Syrti said that three families in Saphai Village, West Jaintia Hills District were affected by mushroom poisoning. They were taken to MCH hospital, Jowai by their family members for treatment.
He said the first family affected includes the mother Smt. Jumonlang Suchiang (43 yrs) who was referred to NEIGHRIMS along with her son 10 months old and they are in critical condition.
Her sons Wansalan Suchiang (14) and Kitlangki Suchiang (10) and daughter Riwanka Suchiang (8) had expired in MCH hospital, Jowai.
The SP said that the second family that was affected includes Ribaitki Shadap, Shanmi Shadap and Sah Shadap and they are in critical condition in MCH hospital Jowai.
The third family affected includes Over Sutnga, Anna Suchiang and Niwanshwa Kanai and they too are in critical condition in MCH hospital Jowai.
