Shillong, Nov 27: Pondicherry defeated Meghalaya by seven wickets in their U-25 Men State A Trophy match in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Meghalaya were forced to bat first after losing the toss and they made a relatively good start, with openers Arien Bonchang Sangma and Ibitlang Thabah making 18 and 15 respectively in a 35-run first wicket partnership.
However, that and 21 made by Manish Sharma lower down the order proved to be the best Meghalaya could manage with the bat as they were all out for just 86 in 41.5 overs.
Pondicherry were not looking to hang around in the chase and knocked off the required runs in just 11.4 overs, though they did lose three wickets in the process – to Lokesh Turaha (2/16) and Badonnam John Mylliemngap (1/14).
Meghalaya will play their penultimate match against Karnataka on Tuesday.
