Guwahati, Apr 13: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said the involvement of Ulfa-I leader Paresh Baruah is important for peace talks.
Talking to reporters, Sarma said that the importance of fostering a conducive atmosphere for dialogue in the region.
Sarma’s remarks came in response regarding the recent decision of Paresh Baruah’s elder brother to join the AGP.
He said that it was his personnel decision to join AGP.
“It is always our wish that Paresh Baruah comes to the discussion table. We are committed to engage in constructive dialogue with the Ulfa-l leaders,” he said.
Sarma stressed the need for all stakeholders to maintain the positive atmosphere prevailing in Assam.
Himanta Biswa Sarma had appealed Ulfa-I commander-in chief to come to discussion table for peace talks.
