Tura April 16: An unidentified individual, suspected of cattle theft, succumbed to his injuries, as he was caught and assaulted by villagers in Kalaichar, South West Garo Hills.
According to reports from Mahendraganj and Kalaichar police station , the incident occurred on April 14, around 12:45 am, when villagers of Wadagre apprehended the person while stealing cattle from the cowshed of Kingston T. Sangma. The suspect was reportedly beaten severely before being brought to Kalaichar police station in a semi-conscious state.
The identity of the person remains unknown. The body has been transferred to Civil Hospital Ampati morgue room.
Authorities have urged relatives or acquaintances of the deceased to come forward and claim the body within three days.
