Tura, Jan 28: Union Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, conducted review of various government schemes during his visit to Ampati, the headquarters of Meghalaya’s South West Garo Hills district on Saturday.
He was accompanied by MP Agatha K Sangma, MLA Subir M. Marak, and other officials, Dr. Karad assessed the progress and challenges in the implementation of Central flagship schemes.
At the Ampati Circuit House conference hall, the Minister was briefed on the achievements and challenges of the schemes.
He expressed his satisfaction with the successful implementation, and emphasised the need for collective efforts to foster development in the Northeast region.
Dr. Karad highlighted the potential for enhanced financial inclusion by increasing the reach of banks in the hilly terrain.
He also underscored the importance of improving healthcare services, promoting generic medicines, and boosting maternal and child healthcare percentages. He also encouraged awareness and effective implementation of government-backed schemes.
As part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra campaign, Dr. Karad interacted with beneficiaries, seeking their feedback on scheme implementation. The campaign aims to reach the unreached and ensure the saturation of government schemes across the country.
During his visit, MP Agatha Sangma and MLA Subir Marak expressed gratitude for Dr. Karad’s attention to regional issues. The Union Minister later visited Ampati Civil Hospital, engaging with medical professionals and discussing enhancements for the healthcare system. Dr. Karad acknowledged the hard work of medical staff and emphasized the importance of addressing vacant posts within the hospital for optimal patient care. He also encouraged prompt surgical interventions when required, highlighting the potential benefits of a responsive healthcare system for the region.
