Shillong, April 15: Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, held a series of key review meetings in Shillong Tuesday to assess the implementation of major central schemes in Meghalaya. The discussions focused on flagship programmes like Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya.
In a meeting with senior officials from the state’s Social Welfare Department, the Minister stressed the importance of improving grassroots service delivery, especially in Anganwadi Centres. She highlighted the need for quality supplementary nutrition, better infrastructure, use of technology for real-time monitoring, and stronger community involvement.

Praising the dedication of local officials, Thakur said, “Despite challenges in connectivity and electricity, the teams are doing commendable work. I urge them to continue updating data on the Poshan Tracker for timely action.”
She reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to empowering women and children, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
As part of her North East visit, Thakur also held a detailed review with the East Khasi Hills District Administration. The session, attended by local MLA Ollan Singh Suin and officials from various departments, focused on progress in areas like health, education, rural development, and livelihood schemes, especially in remote regions.
Later, the Minister met with the Governor of Meghalaya, C. H. Vijayashankar, to discuss state-led efforts to improve women and child welfare.
Field visits to Anganwadi Centres and project sites are scheduled for Wednesday to assess on-ground implementation.
