Shillong, Jan 27: One Under Trial Prisoner (UTP) committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the UTP cell at Civil hospital, Shillong on Thursday.
Ravi Sunar (28) was apprehended on Wednesday evening by the Nongpoh Police and was brought to Shillong at around 5 AM on Thursday.
On reaching Shillong, the Police kept Sunar in the UTP Cell at Civil hospital but at around 9 AM, Sunar was found hanging in the toilet of the UTP cell.
Sunar along with three other drug dealers was apprehended by the Nongpoh Police with the help of local youth of Downgate, Ri Bhoi District. They were caught on Wednesday night by the members of the Seng Samla Downgate while the former were patrolling in Down Gate area. They caught four drug addicts including one drug peddler and seized one can containing cocaine.
