Guwahati, Feb 29: Six Veer Lachit Sena of Assam were arrested on Wednesday for obstructing few candidates from appearing in an examination under the pretext of verifying candidates with Assam connection at E-Com Tower in Borjhar, Guwahati.
Activists allegedly barred candidates from participating in the SSC-GD examination by claiming them as not belonging to Assam. Five candidates restrained by the group missed their exams.
According to police, the incident happened at around 10:30 AM when candidates arrived for the examination at E-Com Tower in Borjhar, falling under the jurisdiction of Azara Police Station, based on an FIR from one of the candidates the police have detained the members of Veer Lachit Sena. Legal actions against them have been initiated, and further details are awaited.
