Shillong, Nov 6: Congress MP Vincent H Pala on Monday inaugurated the Kambel Shullai Eco-Friendly Crematorium of Seiñraij Jowai at Khliehriat Turiem, Khliehryrshi along the Jowai – Shillong Road.
The Crematorium was constructed with the Financial Assistance from the MP scheme.
A short gathering was organised which was presided by the President of Seiñraij Jowai, shri. Hercules Toi wei in the presence of the Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, the Waheh Chnong of Khliehryrshi Village shri Kitbok Rymbai, officials of Seiñraij Jowai and the family members of smt. Rina Challam who had donated the plot of land for the same.
Vincent H Pala lauded the effort of the Seiñraijs all over Jaiñtia Hills for preserving the rich culture of the Pnar people.
He further stated that the Crematorium is the need of the hour so that the mortal remains of the dead can be performed with respect and dignity.
Others who spoke during the gathering were the former President of Seiñraij Jowai, OR Challam, W. Challam from the Challam clan who donated the land, the Waheh Chnong of Khliehtyrchi ahri. Kitbok Rymbai amongst others.
