Shillong, Sept 7: The Sur Ehrngiew ki Nong Malki (Voice of Malki People) organised a Peace Rally and candle light vigil on Tuesday at Malki ground demanding justice for the killing of Ex-HNLC General Secretary, Cheristerfield Thangkhiew.
Family members of Late Cheristerfield Thangkhiew were present at the rally of the Sur Ehrngiew ki Nong Malki which comprises of KSU, FKJGP, HYC , HNYF and Seng Samla Malki.
GS Thangkhiew, brother of Late Cheristerfield Thangkhiew, led the candle light vigil with the family members following suit and by the people present at the rally.
Speakers from different organisations condemned the MDA Government and the Police department.
KSU Mawlai Unit’s General Secretary, Rapbor Nongrum said the police department should concentrate more in the border areas rather than showing their powers in and around Shillong.
GS Thangkhiew, brother of Late Cheristerfield Thangkhiew, said the whole family is still at shock with the mishap. He questioned the Chief Minister of Meghalaya if there is any hidden agenda that the Government has to take away his brother’s life rather than to make an arrest and take him for a proper legal trial if he was guilty.
