Voting for CEM election today to be by secret ballot

Tura, Jan 31: The election for the post of CEM on Monday morning will be through secret ballot in which each MDC will put a seal on the ballot paper and drop it in the box that will be opened after voting is over for counting of votes.

Defeated CEM Benedic R Marak, supported by opposition Trinamool Congress and two BJP MDCs, is fighting for the post against NPP candidate and former chairman Rakesh A Sangma.

The NPP side currently has 16 members, including deputy chairman Albinstone Marak who can vote in a tie, while the Benedic faction backed by Trinamool has 13 members on its side.
