Shillong, Feb 10: The MDA Government will complete the full tenure of five years and there will be no hiccups in the functioning of the government, assured BJP MLA of Pynthorumkhrah constituency A.L. Hek days after Congress legislators joined the MDA government.
Speaking to Hub News, Hek said, “The joining hands of the Congress with the MDA government is their willingness, we (BJP) have nothing against that… we (BJP) are ready to work together”.
Referring to the adage that ‘in Politics there are no permanent friend nor foe’, he indicated that the BJP is ready to work with different political parties. “From my personal point of view, the coming of the Congress to join hands with the MDA government, which the BJP is part of, it clearly shows that the BJP is no longer untouchable,” said Hek.
The BJP leader further added that the Centre will have less to say on this coalition as the BJP is only a small part of this NPP-led MDA government.
“The ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ has started from our state of Meghalaya” added Hek.
On BJP State Chief Ernest Mawrie’s objection to the Congress legislators joning MDA, Hek said he too was surprised by Congress MLAs move. He also stated that they were not informed by the coalition partners about this move, which otherwise should have happened as a courtesy.
