Welcome Arch inaugurated at East Jaiñtia Hills

Jowai, Nov 30: The Welcome Arch on the National Highway 6 at Tuber Chohchrieh, East Jaiñtia Hills was on Monday inaugurated by the Local MLA and Social Welfare Minister, Kyrmen Shylla at a small function which was presided by Siddharth Banerjee.The function was also attended by Mawphlang MLA, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, the DC of the District, SS Syiemlieh, SP of the District, JS Dhanoa, the Waheh Chnong of Tuber Chohchrieh, Khroo Ksoo, amongst others.This Welcome Arch was constructed by Star Cement under the PPP Mode at the cost of Rs. 30 lakhs and due to the COVID-19 pandemic the construction was delayed by over 3 years.

SS Syiemlieh while addressing the function lauded the initiative of Star Cement as it will welcome the people entering the District and urged the people to take care of the Welcome Arch especially the statues on both sides of the road.As the Chief Guest, Kyrmen Shylla urged upon the Company to provide more CSR projects to the District especially in beautifying potential tourist spots that have started attracting tourists from around the state and country.

He also urged the Company to construct a similar Welcome Arch at the entrance towards Meghalaya  from Assam through East Jaiñtia Hills.
