Tura, April 15: In anticipation of the upcoming General Election to the Lok Sabha on April 19th, 2024, and the subsequent counting of votes on June 4th, 2024, Jagdish Chelani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills District, Tura, has announced ‘Dry Days’ for the entire district.
The restrain orders will be in effect on April 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2024, and also on June 4th, 2024, during the vote counting process.
This declaration, was made under Section 135 (C) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and in accordance with the powers vested under Section 52(1) of the Meghalaya Excise Act, aims to ensure the smooth functioning of the electoral process.
Deputy Commissioner (Excise) West Garo Hills, Tura, issued the notification to uphold the integrity and security of the electoral proceedings in the region.
