Imphal: SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal repatriated from AGMUT cadre to Manipur cadre
amid fresh violence in the northeastern state.
According to an order by Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Balwal, IPS (MA- 2012) has been repatriated from AGMUT to Manipur cadre.
The approval has been granted by the Appointments committee of the Cabinet, almost month after the proposal by the MHA.

Who is Rakesh Balwal?
Rakesh Balwal is a 2012-batch IPS officer.
Balwal is of Manipur cadre posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
He is currently posted as SSP Srinagar and would now be posted in Manipur.
This development comes amid fresh violence over the deaths of two students who went missing in July.
After Internet was restored in the violence hit valley, the photos of the bodies of two youths who went missing in July went viral on social media.
Following which a massive protest was led by students demanding strict punishment against the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the state government has re-imposed curfew in the two districts — Imphal East and West to combat the protest.
More than sixty five students were injured in the protest.
