Shillong, April 4: For the first time, the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) will announce the SSLC (Class 10) exam results in April instead of June.

The results for 2025 will be declared on April 5 at 11am.

This early result is due to a new rule brought in by the state government. From this year, MBoSE will hold the Class 10 exam twice a year.

The first exam will take place in February-March, and students who fail will get another chance to appear for the exam in May.

The aim of this change is to help students get their results sooner so they can take admission in schools and colleges without delay.

It maybe noted, Education Minister on August last year said, the first exam will take place in February or early March, and the second will allow students who fail in all or few subjects to retake the exam within one to two months which will be in May.

The education minister said that this move aligns with the ongoing implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and is designed to support students by reducing the time lost between attempts.

The State cabinet had also approved the decision to do away with optional paper or ‘best of five papers’ from 2026-2027 academic years, this means that all students from 2026-2027 will have to pass all six subjects in the board examination.
