Wildlife Week Celebration 2022: East and West Garo Hills hold competitions for students

Tura, Oct 21: The office of the District Forest Officer (DFO), Wildlife, East and West Garo Hills, in collaboration with IPTAC organised various competitions for schools students as part of the Wildlife Week Celebration 2022 in Tura from October 7 – 21, 2022.

The various competitions included: photography, drawing, painting and poem competition for students of various categories.

The closing ceremony on Friday was graced by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, in the presence of DFO, RK Marak.

In the photography contest, Abbey Kadim N Sangma (Class VIII) of Aeroville Higher Sec School, Tura bagged the first place while Brilliant Cindy S Marak (1st Sem) of Tura Govt College secured second and Aayan Zubair K Marak (Class VIII) of Aeroville Higher Sec School, Tura clinched third position.

In Drawing Competition – Group A (Class I to VI) the first position was clinched by Amrea T Sangma – Class VI of Captain William Sec. School, second place to Yishai William Ch Momin – Class V of Captain William Sec. School and third position to Vaibhav Debnath (Class V) of Aeroville Higher Sec School.

In Drawing Competition – Group B (Class VII to X), Azeka Cheana B Marak (Class IX) of Captain William Sec. School secured the first position while Achillee A Sangma (Class IX) of Captain William Sec. School secured the second place and the third position went to Nokinte Batera M Marak (Class VIII) of Aeroville Higher Sec School.

Painting Competition: 1st position was shared between Sengnarik Winona Sangma – Class X of Captain William Sec. School and Ishika Das (Class X) of Captain William Sec. School, and the second place was awarded to Ridhi Dey (Class VI) of New Horizon Sec. School and Suzan Korin – Class VIII Captain William Sec. School. The third position was won by Bakrime Rikande M Sangma – Class VIII New Horizon Sec. School and Rudra Burman – Class IX of Captain William Sec. School.

Poem Competition: First position – Rene Chiara Momin – Class X, Captain William Sec. School; second place – Jehiel R Manok of Don Bosco higher secondary school, 3rd – Aryan Sun Arengh (Class IX) of Captain William Sec. School.

Awards were also given to Nine Pray Phatson Momin, Deputy Ranger and Sengkam N Sangma Wildlife conservationist, IPTAC.
