Shillong, Feb 18: The local MDC of Sohryngkham Pyniaid Syiem said that he will gather a meeting with his supporters with regard to the bye-election of Mawryngkneng.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, he said, “I will have a press conference soon on this matter. I will speak after I convene a meeting of the supporters”.

It may be mentioned that the Mawryngkneng seat fell vacant following the demise of Mawryngkneng MLA David Nongrum in early February.

Political parties are eyeing the Mawryngkneng seat which was held by the Congress party even though the Congress is also making attempts to appeal late Nongrum’s father, Charles Pyngrope who is also the MLA of Nongthymmai to reconsider the decision to not field a candidate from his family.
