Shillong, Feb 18: Irked at the adamant attitude of the government, the deficit teachers’ association in Khasi and Garo Hills will have a joint meeting on February 20 at Dunoi at 11:30 am to discuss on the next course of action.
The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) along with Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers’ and Employees Association (GHDSTEA) has decided for a joint meeting to discuss the issues of the aggrieved teachers and the government’s non-response.
The associations have sent a letter to the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma requesting him to meet them tentatively before January 29 to discuss the pending issues.
In a statement issued here, president of the association Kular Khongjirem asserted that the government has been unresponsive towards the issues of the association which Khongjirem said are genuine and rightful.
The demands of the associations include releasing the pending arrears of the revised pay, the new rate of Death cum Retirement Gratuity demanding that it should be raised to Rs 10 lakh to be at par with the government employees, the Retirement benefit schemes, Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme (MACPS), the regular and monthly pay besides others.
