IAF keeps lifeline open to cut-off Nagaland

Kohima, July 28: The Indian Air Force (IAF) continued its humanitarian relief operations in flood and landslide-hit Nagaland for the fifth consecutive day, airlifting 4.65 metric tonnes of essential supplies and evacuating 107 stranded people from some of the state’s worst-affected districts.

Resuming sorties after bad weather grounded flights a day earlier, two IAF helicopters ferried relief material to Namsang in Longleng district, while evacuating students, patients and other stranded civilians despite payload limitations.

The operations were carried out on the request of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority as road connectivity remains severely disrupted across Longleng, Mon, Tuensang and Mokokchung due to multiple landslides.

With several key roads still blocked, relief and restoration efforts are continuing in the affected districts. The State Disaster Management Authority said it is coordinating closely with district administrations and response agencies to ensure timely rescue, relief and rehabilitation, while thanking the IAF and all agencies involved for helping reach cut-off communities.
