Williamnagar girls create history in MBOSE SSLC 2025

Williamnagar, April 7: The results of this year’s Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam have thrown in a lot of surprizes, especially with the astonishing rise in the performance of students from the rural belts. While the top spot was shared by two students from Shillong and Jowai, the second spot was also secured by two students, with one of the spots by a girl from a small school in remote Phulbari area of West Garo Hills. Overall, Garo Hills secured 18 positions in Top 20 merit list, which featured 87 names.

Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) 2025 had declared the results on April 5.

One of the students in the merit list was Umalizie D. Sangma, with a remarkable score of 563 marks out of 600. She secured the 12th rank across the state. She has also created history for Loyola Secondary School, Dawagre, Williamnagar, East Garo Hills marking its first appearance in the MBOSE’s Top 20 merit list.

Speaking exclusively to Hub News, Umalizie shared that her success is a result of unwavering dedication, self-study, and the guidance of her school. “I have never taken private tuition in my life. I relied entirely on classroom teachings and my own revision,” she said. She credited her success to her principal, headmistress, teachers, and her ever-supportive parents, whose belief in her became the foundation of her achievement.

Another moment of pride for East Garo Hills came from Williamnagar, where Aganchi K. Sangma made history for Green Yard Higher Secondary School by securing the 17th rank in the state with 558 marks out of 600.

Speaking to Hub News, Aganchi thanked the Headmistress, teachers, and her parents for playing a vital role in her academic journey. Her achievement marks a significant milestone for Green Yard Higher Secondary School, inspiring a new generation of students in the region.
